Browser goodness: The Basics
Yep I said it browsers are chock full of goodness – except when they aren’t because sometimes they’re not… but I’ll touch on that next week.
We talked about history, cache, and cookies last week, how about we touch on a few other items that all browsers have.
The Address bar
An often overlooked element of the browser is the address bar if you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s the big empty space in the top middle to the left of the search and above your favorite home page is the address bar. Here you can type in the urls to your favorite sites and go right to them google.com hotmail.com etc and you don’t even have to type’ www’ (…back in my day we had to type www for world wide web – you kids and your new fangled ways, floppy drive!)
Home Page
Speaking of your home page you can change this to be your favorite web site or no site at all as well if you like the msn/yahoo/charter/your isp home page this isn’t for you but if you want a change
Firefox >> Preferences >> General >> Home Page – change the link here to voilamediagroup.com and your done… – just kidding put your favorite site here that you’d like to see when you open a browser.
In IE >> Tools >> Internet Options >> General
Next week: Browsers and your privacy.
